Thanks for the advice given by others in Photo Fair. Reducing exposure seems to have worked well.

Great shot I have been trying to get a good shot of one that has stayed in my area over the winter but so far have not managed to get detail on body.

Thank you. This was taken using spot exposure with -1ev compensation. Birds that are light coloured (or white) always give great difficulty in getting the correct exposure. There is so little contrast in the plumage of the egret which makes the problem many times worse.
