    Snaar snaps: Village in Summer

    Well. June is here and I say it's summer
    Agriculture is strangely quiet, no ploughing, drilling or spraying, but Nature seems to go into overdrive with pollen and flowers everywhere: So here are some snaps from todays lunchtime wanderings:

    In the High Street: a passing cyclist and some blossom.



    Lilac against a nice blue sky, also in the High street



    In a field next to a crop, the clover is in bloom as well.



    Here is a quiet spot in a quiet village: The footpath behind the barn...





    Finally, fresh leaves in the churchyard.



    All of these with the 14-54 + EC14, I think...

      Here's an observation: This is a forty acre field full of some sort of green leafy planty crop that I don't recognise. Hidden in the leaves, its coming into flower (see below).

      Assuming that the crop is supposed to flower - it occured to me how much we depend on bees in an industrial scale these days. There isn't a tractor mounted bee-ossiter implement to replace them.




      On a completely different tack, this is a picture I must have taken a dozen times in my photographic career. The sunlit leaves from below shot. Never mind, I still find it a very pleasing sight :-)

        On of those rare days with an incredibly, insanely blue sky...




        and a Rhododendron tumbles over the lane that leads to Corner Cottage..

            Beautiful photos all!. By the way, the meteorological summer may have begun, officially springs lasts until 21st June though

                  Inspired by the Photographer's Ephemeris (see elsewhere...) I went out on a spying mission this lunchtime, searching for a suitable place to get a shot across the valley at sunrise.

                  On the way back to work I saw this. Our farmer/landlord sets aside a nice little paddock for wild flowers which are in full bloom right now. Furthermore I spot an ancient and rusting spade... Just what I want for my composition.

                    Another wonderful series, up to your usual high standard. Love the differential focus, is that a Mk1 or Mk2 14-54 as I understand they have different bokeh?

                      Aha. Well currently I have access to both. This is the Mk1 version. The original image of the wild flowers is not as nice, so I gave the oof areas a light gaussian blur to keep the focus on the spade thingy..

                        The spade is another fine example of your great " eye" for a picture.
                        The horse. I think the poor thing has just had an operation and still has its theatre gown on.

                          The well trodden footpath past the old barn:

                          On a hot day its nice to find some cool shade. This footpath skirts the old farm near the churchyard and leads out into open countryside.

                            The horse is wearing a fly-sheet...it keeps the worst of the flies from bothering them - but it always seems such a shame to dress them up like that in the summer.
