  • FS. Tamron 70-210 with 4/3 mount

Do you wish you had the 50-200mm but (like me) can't afford it .. how about this this 70-210 f3.8 - f4 Tamron type 46A. Similar focal range but much much cheaper!

I am posting this lens for sale again - but this time it includes a Tamron-Konica adapter that is modified for 4/3 fitting. So - with the adapter you then have the opportunity to try a host of nice Tamron optics on yer 4/3 camera....

Here is the lens without mount fitted:

This is the later of their 70-210 zooms and is shorter and lighter than the big f3.5 SP version. I bought this to replace my 200mm prime but I didn't allow for the fact that it is just too long to fit my camera bag.

The lens is very clean, almost unused. Optics are clean, no scratches haze or fungus and almost dust free. 9 blade diaphragm clean dry and snappy. Mechanically it looks nice with no dings or scratches.

The mount is also very clean and new looking. The previous owner can't have used the combo much.

Here is how it looks on my E510..

Here are some results from the lens

    at 70mm

    and at 210mm

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

so for the benefit of those of us who missed out on this deal but might have access to some other Tamron lenses, tell us about that adapter, how or by who is that modification done?

The guilty secret of 4/3rd is that the pitch and diameter of the 4/3rds bayonet is strangely similar to the old Konica AR bayonet. I have bought and converted half a dozen Adaptall-Konica adapters these past few years. It is a real pain of a job and takes me a couple of evenings, but in the end you have the ability to put loads of Tamron Adaptalls on your 4/3rds.

Given it's such a pain to do - I would not recommend it unless you love working with M1 screws under a magnifying class

However I have heard tell of a Chinese Tamron-4/3rds adapter (probably on ebay) that would be a much better bet.

Another tack is to buy a nice Vivitar or Hexanon lens in Konica bayonet (its an unpopular brand so the prices are still lowish) and convert the bayonet yourself.. I have detailed the process on a web page here.. http://www.snaar.co.uk/lenses/
