E-System lens and accessory hire - the details

At last I can now reveal our pricing for our forthcoming Olympus E-System lens and accessory hire service. I say 'forthcoming' but the fact is that we have one customer already, whose 7-14 is on its way to him as we speak!

A provisional price list, which include summaries of other aspects of the service can be downloaded from here (pdf format):

The list is not complete - camera bodies are not listed and some accessories may be missing. But the bulk of what we will be offering is there.

I believe that the rates are substantially cheaper than a Nikon or Canon user would have to pay for hiring the same value of gear from other independent hire services.

AND, we are in the final stages of working out rates for a rebate scheme through which you can claim money back on your hire if you purchase the same model of item hired within four weeks of hiring it. More details on this will be published soon.

I can also confirm that we will announce details of a hire rebate offer that means you could reclaim up to your whole hire fee if you later buy the same model of gear that you previously hired from us.

It deserves to be a great success. There is a lot of great stuff on the list too... I can see me being tempted in the future.

We have already had a couple of happy customers.

And we have a couple of firm bookings, but mostly the interest is somewhere in the future.

If anyone would like to rent something for the holiday period...?

Yes it is - we only have one example at the moment, too.

OK - there will be an online ordering system at some point, but for now, drop me an email to [email protected] with the days you wish to use the lens (remembering that the hire periord is for full days use of the lens, not the two days we factor in for you to receive the lens from us and the two days necessary for you to return it, assuming you will be shipping it).

We can take it from there.

Interest is slowly picking up even though the service has not yet been publicised widely. A press release will go out tomorrow.

There are some revisions to the pricing too. The 3, 7, 14, and 21 day rates previously published are unchanged, but we've decided to compute more sensible rates for other days. The price list can be downloaded from here:
