Yes, definitely the best I have seen so far.

He is good indeed. I enjoy looking at his moon shots.

Re: Is this moon shot the best....

Superb images. I have been trying to take images with my 70-300mm with the ec-20, but they all lack detail and I cannot get them fully focused.

That shot is as good as any I have seen from any telescope. Very well done.

Are there any specific points you've noticed as the next clear full moon I was going to try my 70-300 with the EC-14.

Did you try manual as well as autofocus and what ISO etc did you try?

Regards
Andy

Hi Andy -

I have stolen this from dpr where olyinaz replied to another - hope it helps:

Will give you some nice magnification and the speed will still be okay at f/11, but you'll probably not be blown away by the sharpness or contrast vs. a dedicated apochromatic telescope. Still, you certainly should give it a try!

Depending upon what camera you're using you should also think strongly about shooting in RAW and at 200iso to bump up your shutter speed (useful if you're not using a tracking mount - you want to keep the shutter speed up above 1/100th if possible). Finally, make sure you use a remote release and have the mirror lock up set for at least 5 seconds (to allow the vibrations to damp out). Autofocus off - use Live View and manual focus if you've got that. If not you can try autofocus because the moon is bright. Center weighted metering on the bright portion of the moon. Sometimes a -.3EV is helpful to protect the glaring highlights.

For JPEGs: White balance Daylight, Natural, try some with Contrast cranked up all the way and a bit of negative EV dialed in (can look really nice), also try some with the SAT at max to see if you like them. Sharpness to taste but if you're shooting at higher ISOs try some with the noise filter on Low and the sharpness budged up a bit - sometimes it makes for nice smooth output with sharp crater edges.

Good luck!

Best,
Oly

Re: Is this moon shot the best....

I use a tripod, with manual focusing. ISO 100 or 200 from 1/80 to 1/200

I will upload some of my moon shots tomorrow. They are getting better (my subjective opinion). I have tried the live view and I have purchased a 1x and 2x eye piece. This really helps.

I keep on getting blurry images.

Re: Is this moon shot the best....

I'm pleased you all find this shot exciting (at least I think you do). It certainly gives me a message 'try and do better'. Although having said that some of the pix on this site are tremendous.

I'm just off to get a pic for the the latest challenge - I need the sun's help though.
