Slide copier

I have a quick question about copying slides.

Has anyone copied their slides to store on their computer?

I'm in the process of digitising all my old photos and hopefully slides. The photos are easy enough. We have a scanner that seems to be doing a great job. I hope I dont wear it out before I'm done.

My problem is with slides. I have a few hundred slides that need copying. I've seen this bit of equipment. I wondered if anyone else has used something like this, and was it successful... or even if there are any other alternatives.

I have a slide scanner, but it is slow and generally not brilliant. Some time ago I noticed that the Zuiko 20mm macro will just cover a 35mm slide at closest focus, so I made myself this item



Using my existing camera, my 50mm macro, my old flash gun plus some bent aluminium. I have to say the results are close to as good as the Minolta scanner but - oh so much faster :-)

I used to use something like this with FILM cameras to copy slides. Functioned well.

What I have been using for a couple of years now is an Epson Perfection 2400 and 3600 scanner for both negatives and slides upto 4x5 inch.

It works great and I will be using them for my 6x6, 6x7 and 4x5 inch neg's and slides.
