painting effects

I have been asked to do a portrait, no problem, but the sitter wants the finished print to look like a painting.
I can print on canvas which is OK but wondered if anyone had experience of this sort of effect.
I user lightroom and elements 4.

Re: painting effects

Have a look on DPReview/Google/RetouchPro for Brad Buttry's Smudge Technique.
