  • Joe Edelman - It is time to hold the photo industry media accountable!

As the title says, this is his main appeal & response to all the damaging rumours that have been propagated & regurgitated with careless disregard to possible effects to the whole industry. Reposting those rumours has only added to the spread of the 'poison' too.

Anyhow, I strongly encourage all to watch the first 25 minutes of his live chat (was live).

This is why I try to avoid rumour sites.

I don't mind discussing aspirations and hopes for new gear but rumour sites exploit this.

I could make more money by doing that...

Posting the same link and starting the same discussion on 2 different boards won't increase it's effect. I make my own decisions what I read or view as I'm sure most do. Thanks anyway though Ross

I too heard these rumors. I saw financial data that suggest Olympus is losing money on their cameras, but then so are other companies like Nikon: The camera market is shrinking (because they can't compete with smartphones allegedly), but like the man says in that video, there are situations where I use my Olympus camera rather than my Google pixel phone. MFT technology is a winner in those.

Buried deep in that rumour thread & why I felt it needed direct exposure as Joe has some sensible comments on it all, particularly how criticising any manufacturer can cost that company lots, just from rumours & in the long run hurt us all with all brands of cameras. I wonder if Samsung suffered with sales because of bashing online by treating them with disdain. "No serious photographer would use a Samsung!" type of posts.

Robin Wong has a couple of rants (his word) on You Tube also looking at the general camera market and makes some reasonable points.
