  • Are you purchasing anything through Amazon?

**News Flash! - Amazon Prime day today! (Monday 16th July) See: http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=48333 **

As part of this site's new fund-raising initiative (see: http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=48195 ) I'm constructing an Amazon shop that will run alongside the forum so that we can earn some Amazon sales commission. The great thing about this is that it costs you nothing.

Until that's completed, this thread will act as a stop-gap. It will contain Amazon commission-earning affiliate links for products that are currently the best sellers on Amazon.

If you feel there are any omissions, especially items you are about to purchase, or ones which are on special offer, please let us know!

Get in touch even if your planned Amazon purchase is not Olympus or even photography-related.

I ought to make it clear that I support the preservation and support of independent retailers. Amazon competition is tough on them and I urge you not to overlook your local dealer. However, if you don't have a convenient local dealer or you prefer Amazon anyway, then this thread is for you.

If dealers would like to offer a mutually-beneficial partnership of some kind, please get in touch.

One frustrating thing about the Amazon affiliate scheme is that stats are only reported once a day so I have no idea if anyone is taking advantage of our links yet

So does it work to e-group's benefit if we click on any one of the links and search for the item (any item) we want to purchase?

Off the top of my head, yes you will generate a commission that way but it's smaller than if you purchased what the link connects you directly to.

Therefore, and especially if you are making a substantial purchase, it's best to reach the item via one of our links. And it doesn't need to be Olympus or photography-related - just let us know and we'll do the rest.

Will the site benefit from the purchase of non photo related goods from Amazon, does it conflict with "Prime" membership and watching paid for TV programs/films via Amazon Prime TV service.

If you purchase an item via a special link from the e-group we will earn a small commission - it varies between 1 and 10 percent and is mostly 3 percent if all the criteria are met (sale is made through a direct affiliate link).

                I've attached a rate list.

Even non-photo purchases can benefit the site but of course we need to know what you intend to purchase in order to provide a link.

On the other hand if you click on a link for, say, an E-M1 Mark II body but then go on to buy a TV, we do also earn a commission, though not at the best direct-link rate.

I don't believe it conflicts with Prime membership. Not all items will generate a commission, like gift cards, I understand.

Just had a look at the Amazon affiliate stats for the last 24 hours; lots of visits But no conversions into purchases just yet - but this is a long term thing of course.

Remember, visit via one of our links and buy almost anything (it doesn't have to be what was linked to) and you will generate a commission at no cost to yourself.

If you provide a link to

I will buy it as I was going to buy one anyway.

The commission rate for most things like photo gear is 3% in the UK, not 4% as I originally stated - that's the US rate. I've updated my original post where this is discussed.
