  • A Flower Bud & a Cocky.

A start to the opening buds of a Corymbia Ficifolia - 'Summer Beauty', pink flowering gum (previously Eucalyptus Ficifolia).

And the natural pruner of all these trees, the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo.

And just because I'm enjoying using a newly acquired lens, the ZD12-60 SWD lens, this is a crop to show the captured detail.

Both taken with E-M1 & ZD12-60mm SWD lens.

Yes, especially when it came at half the price of heavily discounted M.ZD12-40 Pro lens.

        Re: A Flower Bud & a Cocky.

That flower is interesting, similarities (superficial) with a moss spore capsule (but easier to photograph).

I prefer the crop portrait which is excellent.

Love the gum cap Ross - prefer the old name though.
And "pruners" is a kind name for these destructive birds. I call the Rosellas much worse when they "prune" my roses!
          Love this lens too.

Thanks Harold. I looked up images of 'moss spore capsule' & I see what you mean, although the scale is somewhat different.

Thanks Lyn. I prefer the 'old name' too. You can blame these two for messing with it.
In 1995 the genus Corymbia, of 113 species, was created by K.Hill and L.Johnson (Telopea, Volume 6(2-3)). In addition to 33 new species, Hill and Johnson transferred the four Eucalyptus species listed here, plus another 76, to the new genus. More recently, Ian Brooker absorbed both Corymbia and Angophora into Eucalyptus (Australian Systematic Botany 13, 79-148.) but this work does not appear to have gained wide acceptance and most authorities retain Eucalyptus, Corymbia and Angophora as separate genera.
Speaking of protecting the flowers, I better put a cage over this small tree because the first one got destroyed by the parrots sitting in it & braking the branches as they tried to enjoy the flowers. This is Summer Beauty, 2nd attempt.

Thinking of your lens, you can always put an even better (E-M1) body with it too at a bargain price ($906) here (black or silver). The lens focusses much better on it than the E-M5 (& E-520).

Wouldn't that be nice! Unfortunately the cash flow is too dried up at the moment to even consider camera gear.

Looks a bit like a poppy seed head when all the petals have fallen. I am just about to send my 22-60 to ffordes for a commission sale.

And babies with bald heads can resemble their grandfathers too.
I hope you get a worthwhile amount for your lens then. Mine was a bargain.
