Firmware v4.1 Released

The E-M1 firmware has just been updated to v4.1 - and if you're updating from v4.0 it keeps the camera settings!

The changes are:
* The stability of the image stabilizer's operations has been improved.
* The problem in which the external flash would not fire when shooting in RC mode has been corrected.

Re: Firmware v4.1 Released

I decided to just get into it & update before going to bed (as well as the E-M5). All seems fine.

Re: Firmware v4.1 Released

Thanks Chris. I did mine via OV3 and when I checked for updates I discovered that there were a couple for that application. Once they were installed I checked for camera updates and it found and installed v4.1 without any problems.

Re: Firmware v4.1 Released

Thanks for the information. I have updated successfully.

Incidentally, the UK Olympus website does not seem to have the 4.1 update yet but Olympus Japan does.

It's the same on our Aussie site but provides the links to the Japan's site.

Re: Firmware v4.1 Released

Wrong thread I know, but in mid January there was a firmware update for the E-M10 [first version] and also for the 12-42mm EZ kit lens.

My M1 updated without a problem. Olympus have denied in a reply to an email to me that the M1 freezing problem exists, though it is well reported on other forums. Not only does my M1 freeze from time to time since V4, it often refuses to switch on. Both situations are put right by battery removal or by lens removal with the camera switch in the "on" position. Olympus have mentioned neither of these in the V4.1 update, but I hope they have sneakily done something about it. I will know soon enough.

I think it must have been put up on the UK site since I did my update. It certainly was not in the download section when I tried initially.

Anyway it is good to see that it is available now.

"* The stability of the image stabilizer's operations has been improved."

Intersting choice of words, to me that reads as "the reliability of the image stabilizer..."

That is how I would read it too, wonder if we will notice any difference?
