This also applies to the EM10. The tripod mount screw thread being so close to the lens mount means if I fit my Panasonic 100-300 lens my arca Swiss plates snag on the lens and stop me tightening the plate in position. The 12-40 just clears.
I Bought a grip with integral arca Swiss fitting for the EM10 but didn't really want to buy a grip for the EM5 mkii.
Bad design Olympus! I can only think they've done it to push you to buy the 75-300

Can't you simply grind/file away the offending part of the plate?

Hi there Paul!

Just a thought, but there is a third party tripod mount for the panasonic 100-300 made in germany - I've seen one sold through the forum before. That would solve your problem and prevent the weight of the lens being on the lens mount when the camera is on the tripod.

I have had similar problems with non-olympus lenses, but never with olympus - you can't really complain that they have made the smallest camera possible but it won't fit every m43 lens and tripod plate combination possible!

Panasonic make a tripod spacer, search DMW TA1.

Cheers Guys. Like the spacer idea, maybe a bit of diy to follow the tripod foot looks interesting too.
I was thinking of drilling another hole to the front of my plate but will have a play to check the head clamp won't snag the lens.

Why bother with blu-tack and old kitchen rolls (lol) when there's a well made device readily available, the TA1. I have one and can advise that it interfaces perfectly between the camera and tripod mount, ensuring no damage occurs to either the camera or the attached lens.

Ricoh, the TA1 looks a good solution but googling brings up only one for sale and thats in Japan! And the Roesch collar looks much more the part too

The reason being I know the topic off by heart as I recently bagged one up myself, I was lucky and found one on the bay at €40.
It's a really good design solution, so good I've left it permanently attached to the tripod. Now whatever camera / lens combo I attach it sits clear of the Arca plate and no fear of damage. Brilliant!

I have one of these and found it quite useful , but worry a little about the stresses imposed due to the fairly small footprint.

Ffordes have one in, "mint" condition (knowing Ffordes that will mean what it says) for £15.
