  • Wings and Wheels show, Dunsfold (Saturday).

Attended the Wings and Wheels show at Dunsfold Aerodrome near Cranleigh (south of Guildford) again, last time was 2012.

Here's a selection of shots from the show, I hope you enjoy them (all taken with the E-M1 and 75-300).

RAF Chinook display team from nearby Odiham, quite a display!

The Gnats display team displaying the superb little Folland Gnat of course. I particularly like the one painted in the Yellow Jacks livery.

    The Tigers Parachute Team

Twin Lancasters from The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight & Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, a very rare sight.

    Breitling Wingwalkers

    The classic Hunter trainer

Extreme aerobatics with the XtremeAir XA-41 Sbach 300

    Spitfire MKIXB & Mustang P-51D

Last but not least XH558 and the Gnats Display team in formation

    Thanks for looking
    Regards Huw

I'll echo Brian's comments. Superb photos. I particulary like the Chinook with the side door gunner sat there as if he were enjoying a gentle weekend drive.

Just been in that area for the weekend and saw plenty of roadside signs for this event. Would have been worth a visit if I hadn't had prior commitments. What was the wheels element of the show like?

        Thanks for sharing.

          Thanks very much Will
The 'wheels' aspect comprised of a whole selection of quick (exotica) to quickish cars and bikes from different eras hammering down the runway in excess of 150 mph (in some cases).
Unfortunately I didn't take any images because it was more difficult to photograph (unless you were at right at the front of the spectator area) and I was munching away on my lunch

Spectacular show, expertly photographed. Glad I wasn't in that Chinook!

Great set Huw, very sharp as well as getting movement in the props, not a easy task.

Thanks Phill, yes it was very good, both times we've attended it's been definitely worth the drive.

Thank you Paul, I took the simpler approach of shooting shutter priority on all of these with tweaks to the exposure compensation depending on the backdrop, most airshows I've opted for manual which is OK but can be a little taxing when the action gets get going

Thanks very much Iain, and yes I'm sure the crew on board would agree with you. I'm pretty sure I couldn't stomach the roller coaster ride they were subjected to... very impressive
