Advise Please on a cheap small flash for E1

I am taking possession of an E1 next week. I will need a very cheap on camera flash for around 40 (severe lack of funds with kids at college). The smaller the better. Short range is all that's needed for indoor photos in the evening and fill for very bright outdoor. Any suggestions would be welcome. PS it will be set to Auto. Sometime later I can get an FL36 of FL50. Thanks in advance.

I'd strongly recommend saving up for a FL36. I have one for my e-300 and it's really good

I used the FL-20 with my E-1. I think they usually go for about £25-ish used. I used it mostly for fill-in, for which it worked very well:

Something a bit larger is the Nissin Di466. Probably as good as the FL-36 in many ways, except that the head only swivels vertically, not horizontally. They cost about £70-ish new, but you might find a used one in your budget.

I have both which I might be persuaded to part with. PM me if interested.

Re: Advise Please on a cheap small flash for E1

Old Oly OM-series flash will work quite happily and safely, but there is no fancy TTL control (which I reckon is over-rated anyway). I think the T20 (smaller) and T32 (reasonably beefy) are plentiful and cheap.

Re: Advise Please on a cheap small flash for E1

I use both the T20 and T32 (a hangover from my OM film days) on my E-M5. The T20 does not have bounce flash capability. The T32 flash head moves up and down for bounce (the body stays fixed), can accept ND or coloured filters and an optional "zoom" filter.

Nothing wrong with these 2 however for the price you will probably find something small that is intended for E series cameras.
