Well, OK, maybe not a mare, I think it was a gelding. I'm not too sure on horse terminology so I stand to be corrected. But Mayor on a gelding doesn't make such a good title, does it?
Anyway, I work as a part time chauffeur and that includes working for a local council driving the Mayor around. I also double as event photographer. Yesterday we visited Riding For The Disabled, a local charity that works with disabled children. After the youngsters had demonstrated their riding skills the Mayor was asked if she wanted a go. She's nearly 70 but she enthusiastically agreed.
These days there is no Mayor and Mayoress, it is Mayor and Consort. The Consort can be anyone, a spouse, relative, friend, whatever. In this case the Mayor's Consort is her father. He's 90. Did he want a go on the horse? You bet he did!
These were taken with the E-M5 and 45mm. The lighting was dodgy - a mixture of rooflights and fluorescent lights. I decided to shoot at 1600 ISO and F2 which would give a shutter speed of about 1/100th. Although they weren't exactly going very fast I figured there might be some movement to be taken into account. Shooting at F2 left very little depth of field on the close shots, of course, which meant that I couldn't get the wonderful horse in focus but that couldn't be helped. The E-M5 did miss focus quite a bit - or should I say, I missed focus quite a bit. In the fifth shot, for instance, the focus plane is just in front of his face, despite the fact that I had face priority on. There is also some blue flare from the fluorescent lights in some shots - haven't had a chance to clone that out in Elements yet. I'm off to work again in a minute.

I wonder if I'll be riding a horse when I'm 90?
He's an amazing character. The other day they had a full day of engagements lasting about 12 hours altogether with only a 1 hour break. They finished about 9.00pm but he didn't want to be taken home. I dropped him off at the pub where he was meeting his mates. And in the car he was trying to convince his daughter of the merits of online shopping.
