  • Outer Hebrides - two seasons in one day

The weather changes frequently, this was the morning view across Berneray Harbour - a wee bit wet and overcast!

By the afternoon the weather lifted and the blue skies appeared.

This final photo was taken from the Commitee Road and shows the tail end of the road leading into the village of Cladach Kirkibost on the south west coast of North Uist.

Looks like a great location for big skies. I love the dramatic lighting in number 1 in particular.

Lovely big skies and no jettrails! Gorgeous.

We're planning a CalMac Island hop around there sometime late May/early June next year, if there looks like a good settled spell.

Many thanks for the comments ... the Outer Hebrides is all about big skies, big beaches and fast changing weather.

Berneray is where I am now, sitting in the bothy of the blackhouse, next door to the Seal View B&B. So far this holiday my beach walks have only been on Berneray, but Clachan Sands is on my to do list.

                  Smashing shots.
Reminds me so much of the rapidly changeing weather we had when I used to visit Benbecula on a regular basis. Have you had the 90mph fog we used to get?

                  Regards.

                  ps. Bigma working OK then.

No high speed fog yet, but we enjoyed high speed hail and rain at Benbecula airport this morning.

The Bigma is great - all I need to do now is work on a way of persuading the birds and seals to come within 200 yards of me. I also built a gimbal head for it which seems to be working very well.
