WOW! These are really great (awesome?).
Perfect focus on the eyes, great detail in the plumage.

Favourites? Impossible to decide really but maybe the birds in flight as I'm rubbish at that and very jealous.

      Thanks for sharing.

Naturally I think they are all brilliant, but as Freya's dad I'm obviously biased - and very proud!

Agree with the above statements, lovely shots. My favourite, I love the first (kestrel?) But number 2 takes it for me as its a bit
            like Nigel, my avatar.

Superb. Not easy to capture them in flight!

Thanks for all the comments, it's very encouraging for Freya.

                        oh oh someone's in trouble!

On the first point I think the defence of "proud dad" would hold up, given the quality of the images.

On the second point. I agree, definitely guilty

Haha, taking a picture of Freya at the moment is harder than birds in flight; she is going through a stage where she does not want her picture taken. It's a shame, because today's pictures are tomorrow's memories and we won't have many of this particular period.

Sometimes I have to resort to shooting blind from the hip. Like this.

It's not entirely sharp but it will do! Another trick is to shoot someone else in the foreground with Freya behind. Even then she usually notices and manages to hide. Mind you, Debbie (in the foreground) will not be pleased with this one - she hates her picture being taken too! I think that's where Freya has picked it up from. Notice that one of them has my 70-300mm and the other has my 40-150mm, leaving me with, errr, the 14-54mm and 105mm Sigma macro - handy for birds in flight! Grrrrr!

But apparently it's OK to take picture of me - Freya sneaked this one while we were having lunch! Grrrr!

But in Freya's defense John she does take better portraits than you.
