First test shots with my new lens (Aviation)

Took my new lens, a Samyang/Delamax 650-1300mm Manuel Telephoto lens, out for some field testing last Monday (20-02-2012). I must say I'm quite impressed with the first results that it produced. Maybe not all that sharp yet, but that's because I still have to get used to the weight (2kg) and the way it works.

You're right in that, it certainly gets you close. Still a lot of practice required till this years show season. Thinking of having a next go with it this Thursday (23-02-2012) at EHVK (Volkel Air Base) for the first display training session of the RNLAF F-16 Solo Display team "Dutch Lion" on Dutch soil again after their return from the U.S.A. for winter practice. :P
There is a nice artificial hill alongside the runway where i can stand with this lens. It's a bit of a distance from the runway and one of the spotters places at Volkel with a parking on either side of the main road. This is point 2 at the map below. Point 2,3 and 9 are the official spotting places of Volkel Air Base. Point 1 is the main gate. All other point on the map are at your own risk, since they are not official spotting places and some of those places are chrash gates whitch need to be unobstructed at all times.
