  • Introduction to infra red article now up

My rather overdue article that introduces the reader to the delights (hopefully) of infra red photgraphy is now up over at Digital Photography Now (DPNow.com). You can find it here:

Hope you like it - feedback very welcome!

And our IR converted E-PL1 (which took all the photos for the article) with kit lens is now officially available for hire

    Very interesting, thanks ian

i have been trying to get that surreal look with a 850n filter but cant get it even with applying the same techniques you have described here. do you think this is only possible with a proper ir converted camera ?

850nm blocks all visible light so you are essentially getting just a monotone image, so no good for false colour, but should be really easy to get some cool looking black and white images. Can you show us some examples?

Thanks Ian, to be honest all my efforts so far has been awful, i find i have to take very long exposoures 50+ sec to get any light coming through. do you think i'd be better off getting a 720n filter ?
