  • Winter Garden birds

Six inches of snow in the Midlands and the birds get braver in coming closer to the house for food.

E-30 & 70-300mm wide open and ISO1250 shot through the living room window

    Regards Paul.
One day I hope to be the person my dogs think I am.

Lovely sharp shots, Paul, especially for ISO1250.

Here's two from my garden today. One of them extremely unusual. Both are a little soft as I had the EC1.4 on the 70-300mm

        Hi john,

Am I correct in thinking the second shot is a water rail?

Super shots by the way Paul & John.

It is indeed. I have never actually seen one of these before. I believe they are more common in England.

              Don't let him near a 50-200!

Nice shots - particularly the last one of the robin merging into the snow

                          Yep Alex, I was amazed.

I even watched as a Sparrowhawk flew in and tried to capture the Fieldfare as it was feeding on the apples. It missed, and landed in a tree right above me.

                              That's one fat little blackbird!

I love that picture with the snow...really captures the conditions.
