Hi, I'm from the States and came across your forum and was impressed. I just purchased a used Olympus e-510 based on consumer reports from 2008 and received it yesterday. It came with the 40-150mm and 11-44mm lenses, a battery and charger, original box, manuals and software. I paid $450 US which seemed like a good price and can't wait to start using it. I was startled to find that it had a shutter actuation of 18,000 which was higher than expected. I'm looking for some advice on whether I should keep it or send it back (I have 14days). It also had a damage code 3B83 which I'm trying to gather information on. I would appreciate any feedback or advice. I plan on getting another one even if i do send it back so plan on participating and posting images. Thanks!

Firstly Welcome to the forum As for your camera 18,000 shutter actuations is nothing! The only thing that would concern me would be that code as I have no idea what it means, no doubt someone will be a long soon who can shine some light on the matter
    Regards James.

Thanks James. I found a repair place that accepts e-mail questions and hope to find out about the damage code. Take care.

Mike, I have been doing a bit of digging on the internet, & found someone else asking about this code on their E-510. The only problem is it was on a German forum & my German is not good, but from my very limited German I made out that it could mean the sensor needs cleaning! How true this is I do not know, but it`s worth a try!
        Regards James.

Thanks again, that would be a releaf if it was just a sensor cleaning. I'll give it a try.

            Dear Mike,

Welcome aboard, great to have you with us. I am surfing trying to find an answer but I have not had much luck yet. I will have a look for a Olympus pdf I think I downloaded that might help. I will let you know if I have any luck.

            Cheers

            Chris

                Hi Mike,

Welcome! I checked the Dutch sites and found an item on a Foto Forum overhere where someone asks the same question. He had problems with focussing his E510 and got the same code. He got the advice to clean his sensor. I don't know the outcome (is not mentioned), but I hope this helps.
                Regards,
                Wilma
