Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

From a personal point of view your statement in the second sentence is purely guesswork, and incorrect.

I'm glad you agree about the 8 years...

Are you including the Mirror and the Grauniad in your synopsis Jim?

I am all for fairness and meritocracy but Labour consistently fail to understand that you cannot help the poor, the disadvantaged, the NHS, education and so forth by bankrupting the country.

Likewise if you "squeeze the rich until the pips squeak" as proposed by a former Labour Chancellor, those rich b*******s will be on the first flight out of London City Airport!

Indeed, to quote the same Labour Chancellor they would have to be "out of their tiny Chinese minds" to stay.

Even Alistair Darling and Gordon Brown recognised this; which is why Labour kept the 40% upper tax rate for nearly thirteen years, and only increased to 45% it a few weeks before the 2010 General Election.

However, if Labour really wanted to help those on lower incomes they would not have done away with the 10% tax rate, which caused a great deal of hardship amongst the lower paid and took away the incentive for many to work.

IF CC ever gets into #10 dining room would he know how to hold his knife and fork, I wonder. Indeed, would he know which knife is for the fish? As fish may be off the menu due to economic constraints, the question becomes academic.

We have no shortage of fish in British waters Mark; we are just not allowed to fish most of it.
