Evergreen + Live Outback pictures on Page 2

in memoriam: Janette

Oil on canvas 28" x 18" completed this morning.
It is the first portrait I've painted since 1987 from a
reference photo taken in 2010 when she was 78yrs of age.
The outdoors setting is by an imaginary evergreen oak tree.

My approach to portraiture is to capture the spirit of my subject and if on completion
I feel that the person is alive on canvas and 'in the room with me', then I am a very happy little vegemite!

Thanks Paul, the eyes and mouth are the crucial features to get right.

Thanks OM.

Dave, a very nice thought, I'm sure she would have.

Mark, you have done a tremendous job there, the likeness is immediately obvious.
As Phill says a true labour of love.

Re: Evergreen - (new painting)

In one sense it brings her back - in another it's a last farewell.

That is a stunning painting Mark, and must have been a challenge at times.
