Returning Fusiliers

Some of the Fusiliers returning from their latest Afghan tour paraded around Ashington and Morpeth today. There was a really good turnout from the public, young and old. Some shots:

"I know my place"

When you get old you think you're still young, until you watch 100's of Fusiliers marching past, and it's the youngness of them all that gets you. It's actually quite emotional. I guess when you're young you feel immortal, I always did. Sadly they aren't.

Note the Northumbrian Piper in the plaid of Northumbrian tartan - a remnant of the Northumberland Fusiliers I guess.

Re: Returning Fusiliers

You had me scrabbling for the dictionary there

I have corrected the typo in the subject title.

Ah - I forgot to fix that. My fingers don't work in the right order.

Re: Returning Fusiliers

They're superb.

I think you should offer them to the regiment, I'm sure they'd be delighted to have them.

Re: Returning Fusiliers

thanks Ellie, I've mailed the regiment, I think - it's a strange email.

Well, I don't agree with war and this one's certainly misguided. I feel for the lads in the forces. They see and are involved in things we could never fully understand. They deserve our support.

It was good there was a positive turnout. I wonder how they feel about it all. Stranger in a strange land I would think. I would guess most don't want to talk about it.

Nice photographs and a good record of the moment.

I'm not sure I could say "I don't agree with war", but I can't see any justification for Iran or Afghanistan. I do know one thing though, I'm glad we have an army and these lads are the business.

They still haven't answered my email though
