Need a WiFi option for my OMD

So, I discovered while on holiday that, unlike my Pen E-P5, my mk i OMD doesn't support WiFi out of the box. This means I will need to get hold of a WiFi SD card. Which are the most compatible with my camera?

You can go for Eye-Fi (recently renamed Keenai) or you can go for Toshiba's FlashAir. Eye-Fi is good if you want an (optional paid for) cloud-based service to back-up your photos to, but FlashAir was also a partner product with Olympus for certain Pen models a while back.

Re: Need a WiFi option for my OMD

The Toshiba FlashAir worked really well for me, as I could download files with FTP CODE as well as the s/ware that comes with the card.

I only gave it away when I got the E-P5 & the E-M1 with on board WiFi

Re: Need a WiFi option for my OMD

I got an 8Gig Transcend one. IIRC it worked on my E5, but it was much, much faster to take the card out and transfer the data via a USB port to my laptop. I don't use it now.

Re: Need a WiFi option for my OMD

My E-PL5 came with a Toshiba FlashAir Card. It worked OK but was a bit limited.
I then upgraded to a more recent FlashAir which allowed the card to connect to a mobile AND my router simultaneously albeit slowly which was more useful for emailing images. It also set the WiFi hotspot up when it was turned on without needing to use any other settings (e.g. the Smartphone menu option or going to the special image and unlocking it).
I still takes a while to transfer images and it's quicker to load the card into a computer but if you want to share an image from the camera via a phone it's pretty useful.

The WiFi implementation on the EM-10 is much more useful as the app lets you specify a lower resolution file processed on the camera which speeds up the transfer + the remote control options.

My FlashAir came from eBay and cost 17.69 for a 16GB Class 10 card in January 2015. They still sell them but the price has gone up a lot - presumably currency related. This is the same seller and item number as mine
