Cropping shows off detail

Saw this dragonfly sunning himself in the garden and he was nice enough to stick around long enough for me to get several shots with the 40-15- pro lens and 1.4tc. This was one of my better attempts. However when I looked at cropping the image it started to become clear just how much detail that lens can capture. Here are a sequence of crops all without any sharpening as an illustration. I had to reduce the file size dramatically to get them on here so hopefully enough detail remains to make the point.

Considering this was shot from about 8-10 feet from the Dragonfly and I used the jpg files I am pretty impressed. Not exactly macro but I can see why Art Frames likes this lens for butterflies.

Re: Cropping shows off detail

Very nice! Yes, I'm guilty of doing similar, especially on FB where I know my Nikon using brother sees it.

Yes to both Rob. I took them stood on a bench in the garden so the IS certainly worked it's magic well.
