Ah yes, Saturday night / early Sunday is the peak:

I haven't tried photographing them, it's hard enough to see a decent number!

They will be very low down just above the horizon looking East around midnight so just before dawn is better time. Its also forecast to be a clear night which is the key factor.

That said, it's easier to catch aeroplane or satellite trails in my experience, but good luck to those that give it a go.

Re: Leonid meteor shower starts tonight

Abject failure. Was out in a local dark area between around 03:00 to 05:15 and saw five or six come over. None whist I was capturing images or in the direction my camera was pointing at. Anybody go out and do better than me?

Re: Leonid meteor shower starts tonight

I had a look outside for a few minutes at 2.30, and looked out the window around 5.00, but didn't see one. Maybe the Leonids are not so prolific. They always seem less than advertised, but I guess you miss some not seeing all the sky at once. I've never bothered trying to photograph them. I think you'd need a fisheye somewhere high to make it worth the bother.
