Re: Cherry Thieves

Nice captures...

My blackbirds raid my strawberry patch, and have to say I am happy for them to enjoy. I do harvest a few to enjoy too.....

Yes, its all about sharing. This year we feel that we have done rather poorly in the stakes.

Re: Cherry Thieves

Benevolence tested when they take a bite from each. Mind you, you could be greedy and cover the tree with a net, or sing to them, Sing-a-Song-o'-Sixpence.

Re: Cherry Thieves

We bought a pair of dwarf cherry trees about 5 years ago, and put them in big pots. Lots of flowers in the spring, but they've only produced one cherry each over the years. The birds/squirrel had them both!

Thanks Mark. It was a small tree once but now its huge as I never find the right moment to prune it. I can't even throw a net over it from the top of my ladder. Most birds eat the cherry they have, all except the pidgeons which throw them on the floor.

Thanks Jim. We are lucky and our tree is very prolific but as you say its the squirrels and birds that get the most as they are happy to eat them before they have ripened properly.
