Olympus Kit for sale from long standing original member :)

Hey everyone - hope this finds you all well.

So, I have reluctantly decided to part with my beloved Olympus kit, and having had a quick chat with Ian, he suggested prior to putting it on the usual online marketplaces, that I should perhaps try on here first. So... here goes...

I have scanned the latest prices from eBay, and my asking prices appear to be around the mid-way'ish point. All of my kit is supplied in their original Olympus boxes and packaging (yep... even the E-400 !), and is in excellent condition (except the FL-50), so here's what I am asking if anyone is interested;

Cameras
Olympus E-5 DSLR, original box and packaging: £310 SOLD
Olympus E-3 DSLR, original box and packaging: was £200 now £150 SOLD
Olympus E-400 DSLR, original box and packaging: £80 SOLD

Lenses
Olympus 11-22mm f2.8-3.5, original box and packaging: was £250 now £130 SOLD
Olympus 14-54mm f2.8-3.5, original box and packaging: was £140 now £90 SOLD
Olympus 70-300mm f4.0-5.6, original box and packaging: was £250 now £130 SOLD
Olympus 40-150mm f3.5-4.5, original box and packaging: was £80 now £40 SOLD
Olympus 17.5-45 f3.5-5.6, no box as this came with a kit: £35 SOLD

Accessories
HLD-4 Hand grip and battery holder for E-3 or E-5: £60 SOLD
FL-50 Electronic Flash, original box and packaging: £25 SOLD
NB - this is not working, as the motor is stuck, could be repaired

Though I've not used the forum in some time due to a huge change in my personal circumstances, I was an Admin on here for many years helping Ian, and any long standing members of old will know of my credibility.

Depending on any level of interest, I will of course consider splitting the kit, and will also be happy to consider prices for any combinations of kit requested. I will also of course, be happy to consider any reasonable offers.

Please drop a reply on here if you are interested.
Thanks

Sorry to see you moving all your gear on John. Afraid I'm all micro now and still have a few of those myself I've kept so not in the market but good luck with your sale.

Many thanks, Phil. Unfortunately, I am not ashamed to say that the impact of said change in personal circumstances on me as a person, on my health and on my interests was quite considerable, especially in regards to my photography. I have still undertaken the odd wedding or two, and not after sympathy, but these past 5 or 6 years have certainly taken their toll on me.

Having said that... I have a new found interest in film, and filmmaking. We shall see.

Oh by the way Phil - if the prices I have listed are way off the mark, please do advise. I have been out of the market for so long now, am happy to reconsider if they are out of the norm.

Thanks again.

Prices look ok to me John but i'm not sure what the market for 4/3s gear is like these days. Are you looking to use a micro 4/3s camera for your film making?

I've already bought a replacement, Phil. As I am looking to do video and some filming et al, I did the research and though the Panasonic m4/3 range are pretty impressive, I preferred the Sony alpha range - not only because of the outstanding a6000 at a brilliantly low price, but also for the upgrade path that is available. I will at some point I'm sure, upgrade to one of the unreal a7 models, but that's for the future.

Being able to shoot high ISO in close to zero light is not something I have ever been used to with Oly gear. Each has its merits, and I have truly loved my E series of cameras, from E400 - E410 - E510 - E3 - E5, and their outstanding lenses (7-14 and 35-100 are in a class of their own), but alas for me wanting to try video, and I guess something new... it is time to see if the grass is indeed greener

I suggested to John that he try to find buyers here on the forum first - I can certainly vouch for him.

Re: Olympus Kit for sale from long standing original member :)

John? theMusicMan? Never heard of him!

Only joking - it's great to hear from you and I can remember the days when you produced magic from those cameras and lenses. Time moves on quickly and it's now old technology but still capable of producing stunning pictures. Here are some excellent bargains to be had by photographers on a tight budget. Who would have thought - an E-5 for £310 and a 14-54mm (one of my all-time favourite lenses) for £140.

Good luck with the sale, John. I know you always looked after you gear and yes, of course, I can vouch for you.

Sorry that you've had such a tough time in recent years and I do hope you manage to rekindle your interest in photography.

Hi, can you let me know the shutter count on the E-5 and perhaps some photos as to condition (I’m sure it’s good!). I’m away travelling at present so can’t reply quick as only intermittent internet access.

Thanks

Spelling sorted for you

Hi John. Ian and I were only talking about you last weekend at Westonbirt. Sad you have some changes and health issues, glad that you have new interests and a direction with more fun ahead

Sadly I have a very similar pile of stuff to hand - good luck with the sale

Regards
Andy

Absolutely I will do this for you. Hope it's OK that I do this tomorrow evening as I am away from home myself, until tomorrow evening.

I will then check the shutter count and take some shots that will show the E-5 is in excellent condition for you.

Thanks for your interest.

Incidentally - would you want the ELP-4 grip attached and any lenses to be included in the shots? Happy to take shots of whatever you wish.

John
