Vikings and Fireworks!

Not every village fireworks display is led by a marauding troop of Viking warriors, but ours was this year!
Very entertaining marching up to the playing fields behind The Dragon Shields.

All taken with the Olympus E-M10ii + Panasonic 25mm f1.7
I freely admit I hadn't spent any time on looking at settings so these could probably have been better with a bit of forward planning.

Not the greatest picture but I only just got there as they started off!

Viking battle around the bonfire by AMc UK, on Flickr
They lit the fire with their torches and then engaged in some battle re-enactment.

Bokeh Fireworks by AMc UK, on Flickr
Playing in the Super Control Panel in the dark, I liked the way the bokeh balls showed in this completely out of focus picture. Technically terrible but I still like it

...and more slow shutter fun with the fireworks

Constructive comments are welcome!

Re: Vikings and Fireworks!

I thought we'd sorted out the Vikings at Stamford Bridge in 1066! Obviously not, so there's more work to be done!

(Good photos!)

Re: Vikings and Fireworks!

I always find setting the camera up beforehand a complete waste of time as I always judge it wrongly.

Cheers!

They talked a good talk but there was no blood spilled
They did a weekend here in place of our usual village fete.
They camped out and did several battle re-enactments.
It was quite fun but hard to get any decent images as there was so much modern stuff around. Bouncy castles in the background rather ruins the warrior in combat image

I'd intended to look up fireworks settings after last year when I used the preset and it gave me nothing at all. I ended up winging a decent shot but it was more luck than judgement.

This year I set a low ISO then played about with shutter speed etc. but I could have got better images if I'd started somewhere sensible with a bit more of a clue rather than fumbling about in SCP in the dark.

My big problem with choosing settings is usually remembering I've done it the next time I go out and wonder why nothing is working
My favourite is setting silent shutter than puzzling why the flash won't fire!
