Re: ALERT..Hijacked by 'Adobe Genuine Software Integrity Service"

Next time it reappears, it may be to notify you that your Adobe software has been blocked. Why not simply phone the number ?

You can always hang up

Re: ALERT..Hijacked by 'Adobe Genuine Software Integrity Service"

It just popped up again.

UPDATE. Just contacted Adobe via my account and had a chat. 'Devendra' advised me to delete LR6 and reinstall from a link she gave me.

She knew all about my LR6 after I gave her the serial number.

Her parting shot was.........Just now uninstall and reinstall the product and if you still face issue I would escalate your case to my senior level team.

When it first popped up my initial immediate reaction was 'SCAM' and there it remained, stuck in place with 'superglue'.

I had to reboot every time to get shot of it for a while, then it would reappear....reboot etc.

It didn't feel right, not like I would have expected from someone like Adobe.

I still remain unconvinced either way and am treating it with contempt it deserves, until I'm satisfied with an explanation to the contrary.

But, but, it has not popped up since Saturday, why I don't know. Stormdront did not charge me because by his own admission he did NOTHING.

If it reappears l'll repost.
Dave, sometimes a little paranoia is helpful, but in this case you should let reason get more of a look in .

Having already verified the authenticity of the pop-up from various online sources, YES I most definitely would ring the number.

Firstly, if had purchased Adobe software from a reputable dealer and it's integrity was now suggested to be in doubt, I would be very concerned indeed.

Secondly, what possible harm can making a phone call do ? You are in control of the conversation having initiated the call. If you felt at any point it was a con or a scam you simply suggest they go away and hang up.

Providing you react sensibly, and control the conversation, there is no way that you, the phone or your equipment can suffer any ill effects whatever from phoning Adobe.

Alternatively, if the integrity of your software is under suspicion by Adobe, by not making contact you could find the software blocked or any account you have with them suspended.

Others have also suggested you phone Adobe but of course the decision, as always, is yours to make.

My posts, as others, were simply trying to help.

Re: ALERT..Hijacked by 'Adobe Genuine Software Integrity Service"

OK, it appears to be sorted.

Adobe confirmed that my software was 'genuine' and that an error had occurred.

Rightly or wrongly, but all seemed genuine, I entered into a 'remote-session' where Adobe operated my computer.

Basically, I think, it meant deleting ever Adobe file and reinstalling.

BUT.....I did not resort to the phone .... it was all done through their help centre 'chat-line'....highly recommended.

Good result then Dave. It's interesting that you felt letting someone access your computer remotely to be safer than a phone call

Glad it's all sorted for you.

Re: ALERT..Hijacked by 'Adobe Genuine Software Integrity Service"

I had this happen a few days ago and assumed it to be a scam. A little research came up with the video below. It seems to have sorted my problem.

Agreed, but beware of 09 premium rate numbers!

I thought exactly the same... if there was ever any one thing Id be reluctant to let someone do its remotely access my computer, particularly if that someone sounded like they might be in Bangalore.
