Re: Dual Card Slot Anyone ?

I've taken probably over 100k shots since I got into digital photography - using both Canon CF and Olympus SD cards and never had a single lost image due to card errors. Is this really a big deal?

Re: Dual Card Slot Anyone ?

My E-500 has two slots. Never used them both.

I can change a card way faster than I could ever change a film.

I'm only using one.

Seriously, a back up body is far more important than a second card in the body you've just dropped/destroyed/flooded.

Re: Dual Card Slot Anyone ?

Yes, I agree: since the mid-2000s I've done over 100k images on assorted Olympus/Nikon/Panasonic/Fuji CSCs and DSLRs, never mind assorted point and shoots, without a card failure.

This is assuming, of course, that you take a spare battery and a spare card with you at all times: in that time I have accidentally replaced a discharged battery in a body on 2 occasions and forgotten to replace the card in a body once.

I agree over the value of a spare body/camera whenever you're going anywhere where you'll be taking 'important' images: in that time I've also had 1 Olympus sensor failure and one dropped Nikon.

So, my experience is that crass photographer stupidity of one sort or another is much more common than card or technical failure!

Re: Dual Card Slot Anyone ?

Advantage for me would be JPEG on one card and RAW in the other. Hoping for a better sensor layout to allow better use of 4/3 lenses and development in BIF shooting.

The only time I've seen dual cards being exploited was by an event photographer who could have his assistant whip in/out the second card without really interrupting progress. Though he seemed happier just being handed another identical camera to work with...

With the advent of WiFi equipped cameras, even this requirement is questionable!

Re: Dual Card Slot Anyone ?

If I was a wedding pro I would like dual-SD-Card slots in the E-M1 and E-M5MkII (which I don't own) as the flagship bodies.
All other bodies seem suited to single card slots.
I think dual-slot is a useful feature in some circumstances.
I was really surprised the E-M1 didn't have it.
