Lenses that slow down the OM-D E-M5

If you have an E-M5 maybe you can help me.

I have started a new article on the Four Thirds User Knowledge Base which explores the issue of certain lenses slowing down the high speed sequential shooting rate that the E-M5 is capable of. I first noticed this when comparing the m.Zuiko 75-300 with the Panasonic 100-300mm; the latter starts to slow the shooting rate down when the lens is stopped down - even by a third of a stop off full aperture.

You can find the article here:

I need more data from E-M5 users using different lenses. Can you help?

The article is a work in progress I would be grateful for your experiences. You're welcome to add your own information to the article directly, of course; just register and log in and you can start editing and contributing straight away!

Photographing a program such as: http://free-stopwatch.com/ or the "APP" on a smartphone, is a very easy way to determine the speed of the cameras frame rate.

Re: Lenses that slow down the OM-D E-M5

I was hoping to get a cheap deal on the M4/3's 40-150 lens, but missed out on the $99 deal that was happening in the USA & was put onto backorder. Meanwhile, while hoping & waiting I put the 4/3's lens on the E-M5. It is strange that at 40mm at maximum aperture (f/4) it is quite slow (in good light) which might be 3 fps, but fires at 9 fps when zoomed out to 150mm at f/5.6. Of course, this can be checked in M mode at maximum shutter speed & MF with no card in the camera to eliminate any influences that could add to the slowing down.
