Leica 14-150 on E-PL1

Not much time or light to try the Leica lens on the E-PL1 or E-1 today.

The Leica isn't that much bigger than the 14-54 MkI....

But it does make the E-PL1 into almost as big a piece of kit as the E-1....

Balance wise, with the VF-2 fitted, the Leica feels OK from the brief outing it had to the patio. Loving the zoom range already....

Will try it out some more, and on the E-1 when I have some more time....

David it does look a bit over the top on your little e-pl1 but I bet you don't mind that when you use it. It's a great lens I really enjoy my E510 a lot lot more now I've got that lens. All the other lenses are just gathering dust now. If only there was a new "E510" sized Oly dslr that I could hook it up to.

Re: Leica 14-150 on E-PL1

I've only had my Leica for a couple of weeks since when it's been on the E620 as a walkabout combination. I'm pleased with it.

There seems to be some distortion at wide angle and wide aperture as this pic shows. I took it not to see how the camera performed but because I was intrigued by the Major's age when he was killed.

I also tried it at the long end and fairly wide aperture in the rather tricky conditions one often encounters when trying to photograph captive owls.

In both cases I thought the results quite satisfactory. I'd have needed two lenses for this if I'd used any of my Oly kit.

Re: Leica 14-150 on E-PL1

As you probably know I have had the Leica 14-150 for a couple of years now and it still impresses me greatly with it's all-round capability. As far as size goes it is surprisingly compact, in fact it is smaller and lighter (just) than the 12-60mm, although it would appear larger on a m4/3rds camera because of the adapter, so I am glad you feel happy with it on the E-PL1.
