Re: Captain goes 7-14mm crazy at IWM Duxford

I love those shots.

I have been to the museum at Duxford many times and I found if you get a day off and go mid-week you can avoid the crowds and reallt take your time with your photography. I got chatting to one of the engineers last time who was restoring a hurricane and he really was fascinating. None of my shots came out so well though!

The SR-71 still looks like something from the future, despite being designed in the 1950's & 60's.

Wonderful.

Ouch!

Chris what a great set of shots - I feel as if I visited ! I LURVE the Blackbird in mono and the back view is awesome ! I must play with my 7-14 one day ! The clarity of each shot is great - as the choice of lens for the subjects!

As I know Chris (and he knows that I love aircraft) I hope he won't mind a tiny little 'hijack' here.

Like many of you, I also love the SR-71 Blackbird, and have had the privilege of seeing one fly in display at Mildenhall in the days when the aircraft were operative.

I love this clip from YouTube - if you can get past the cheesy music (sorry Jean-michel Jarre!) it's a cracking bit of film which gives me goosebumps:

An awesome machine - and Chris has done it proud with some cracking good photos!

End of 'hijack'

Thea

Dear Thea,

What a great hijack, really enjoyed the video. There seem to be quite a few Blackbird fans so I did a little surfing and found this excellent website:

http://www.sr-71.org/blackbird/

It has got pretty much everything, the genuine flying manual, pictures, wallpapers, flight simulators etc. Enter at your peril as it will soon be past your bedtime!

Cheers

Chris

A stunning set of images from one of my favourite places.
You have certainly put the 7-14 to excellent use Chris, I must get up there again on a quiet day.
Thank so much for sharing these

Cool! Which makes it an even better choice of lens! I also really like the B&W fighter. Excellent composition.
