Saving camera settings on a CF card?

Anyone think this would be a good feature?

It was a pain on the E500 and a double pain on the more complex E3, to try to remember and restore your personal settings, after they were reset to defaults by a firmware update.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to save your settings on a CF card, so you could always restore them after a reset? I would think that it would be a relatively easy job to do in firmware.

Agree until the the restrictions on the format of the data held on the CF card inhibits firmware changes eg if a value is spread over two sub values etc

Re: Saving camera settings on a CF card?

This is something that really should be present, or at the very least an ability to back up and manage them through Olympus Master/Studio. That and storage for more than 2 custom settings! (on the E3 that is, its the first camera I have been using them on).
