Selling to a dealer

GAS has has won and I am buying a OM1 Mkii it is still on it's way, also for the last 3 or 5 or 7 years I have been under an ultimatum to get rid of my unused cameras.

I am not keen on e-Bay, at the moment forum members are otherwise engaged so I wish to trade in my old cameras to the supplying dealer of the Mkii.

I would ideally like to take my boxed old cameras to the dealer and leave with the new camera and only have spent a smaller amount of money.

Any suggestions.

Yes - the shop by the old arch. I have a E3, E5, OMD EM1, a 12-60mm 4/3rds lens, batteries and CF cards so I hope they can offer me a good price.

http://www.ffordes.co.uk/ , but expect to pay 20% commission. Why not advertise here? If it is in good condition and the price is made attractive, it should sell.

Re: Selling to a dealer

In the past couple of years I've had good experiences trading stuff in with LCE (the main London shop), SRS and Wex.

However I agree it wouldn't do any harm to try a quick listing on here.

Re: Selling to a dealer

Do not get you hopes to high, I am getting prices at the minute and was surprised how low they are
16 was the best offer for a HL6 grip to fit the E5.

I had quite a bit of kit and LCE offered surprise surprise all my kit came out at a straight swap!

Another offered 3300 after commission had been taken for the same kit?

Park cameras stated they will not take 4/3 kit and offered 380 for my E-M 1 body.

They offered you 380 for kit that they don't take?

No, that's not what Ed said .....

....... they don't take in '4/3' any more ( 4/3 being the original dslr system ), they are only prepared to accept M4/3 hence their offer on his em1.

As it happens it would appear original 4/3 kit is actually dropping further in price, I thought it may have bottomed out but I see 'LCE Southampton' have just listed a 50-200 SWD for 299 and a 7-14 SHG for 399, both graded as 5*

Re: Selling to a dealer

Ah knew something was wrong in my logic circuits hence me questioning it ta for clarification.
Knew 4/3 would have to drop just now, since I was about to list the very same pair of 4/3 lenses for sale, so obviously lce had to list those now lol.
Oh well at least I know the current pricing .

Re: Selling to a dealer

No problem,

Actually there has never been a better time to buy the best '4/3' lenses as long as you plan to keep them, for resale/ p-ex has sadly gone through the floor.

Re: Selling to a dealer

The crazy thing is that you can still buy four thirds lenses new, although I wonder just how many they sell these days. The cheapest new price for the 7-14mm seems to be 1399 from WEX, while the 50-200 is 1,085.68 from Amazon. Those second hand lenses are terrific bargains if you want great glass at rock bottom prices.

A pair of 50-200 SWD actually went down to 280 each in LCE Norwich recently. I was surprised as this seems to be below current ebay price, but perhaps they just want to shift 4/3 on.

Re: Selling to a dealer

As suggested the rest of my 4/3rds kit has been listed in the For Sale section. The E5 was snapped up even before it got onto any advert page by a member seeing my earlier post and emailing me to see if I wanted to sell the camera. So two happy people, the purchaser (I received an acknowledgement of receipt note) and myself.

Re: Selling to a dealer

I am gradually weakening towards the em1mk2. However JESSOPS part exchange deal sucks it's more or less a 100 less than MPB for instance circa 280??? For excellent condition. I therefore am still holding out. Also what is weird generally is that the price of new has risen but the price of used hasn't or is it just me?
Kind regards mike
