Re: Happy NEW YEAR 2017 from OZ!

And here's one I took a very long time ago on Kodachrome 64.

The temperature was around -16 °C at the time, but we are used to that.

In 1990 Sandra and I crossed that bridge on our drive back to London. I was shooting pictures out through the sunroof of the Rover we hired.

Correct, but it was fun to do it with the family. Quite a bit cheaper back in those days, too.

You'll need to visit Oz on a Bridging visa to better it.

Thank you Mark.

The scaffolding and bright floodlights at the north end of the bridge were unfortunate distractions, but I have always liked the brightly coloured reflections on the river, which only Kodachrome could have captured.

Re: Happy NEW YEAR 2017 from OZ!

I don't see the floodlights or scaffolding as distracting at all, Nigel. The floodlights lit the buildings and esplanade that added interest and a critical lead in to the bridge. I agree that Kodachrome 64 was a great film as indeed were reversal films generally. One of my favourites was Fuji Provia, vibrant but less saturated than Kodachrome. Switch off the floodlights and you wind up with a dirty big black hole in the f/g - dare I say as big as the UK budget and ours combined!

Just for the sake of it, since there is all this discussion on bridges & our Sydney Harbour Bridge, here is an angled night view during Vivid Sydney 2016.

I feel the floodlights distract from the bridge and coloured reflections in the river, but there was noting I could do about it. And I like it all the same.

I cannot disagree about the black hole though.

Re: Happy NEW YEAR 2017 from OZ!

You may find this shot interesting and similarly saturated to your night shot reflections.
It is a 5 megapixel Olympus C5050Z image of the Derwent River, Hobart, TAS filched from my 2005 archives.
