Is this lens rare?

My Dad has found a Komura 85mm f1.4 lens in his cupboard. He bought it in the 1960s and it has an Exacta mount, obviously manual focus. It is in the case and has a lens cap, and in as new condition.

As it could be used with m4/3 systems he could buy an adapter, but was interested to know if the lens itself was rare (as suggested by eBay US).

As he has just bought my E-M1 mark I he is thinking he might sell this if it is worth anything?

Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

Amanda

Re: Is this lens rare?

It does seem so. The one that sold on US eBay for $700 seems to have been relisted and is currently back on... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sankyo-Kohki.../291982010925?

Further interesting info here... http://allphotolenses.com/lenses/item/c_1603.html

It's probably something for the Japanese collector if it is in mint condition.

Re: Is this lens rare?

Thank you Beagletorque. Really useful and my Dad will now be a bit careful about selling it. I would say it is in mint condition.

Re: Is this lens rare?

If it is mint then expect $1000+ to the right person, there are 3 on ebay from Japan and HK for that amount and they are not mint!

Amanda,

This may be of interest. Someone posted additional images but they have been deleted.

Thanks Harold. I think my Dad is going to look at selling it when he comes back from holiday.
