Nissin di466 Flash Help

I have purchased a Nippin off camera flash to learn how to do flash photography/lighting etc.

I have managed to get this to work off camera when the small Olympus camera is live and fires.

It does not appear to work on the camera hot shoe

1) Can it work on the camera hot shoe?
2) Can it work off camera without the Olympus flash going off? If so - how do I achieve this?

Thanks

I know have to complete an assignment with a light/flash. Not sure about having to have the front hot shoe flash and the Nissin firing together.... Are there any good speed lites for the EM5?

Re: Nissin di466 Flash Help

Is this a 4/3 flash?
If it is it should work fine.

What colour light is displayed on the back of the flash?
White is auto red is manual green is slave 1 blue is slave 2. Have you secured it firmly in place?

I use my 466 frequently and it works very well. The Metz flash I had was a let down.

I have used it with My E-620, XZ-1, E-M1, E-M5 and E-M5II with no issues.
