Damned dial...

For the life of me I cannot work out how to change the direction of the front(dial2) dial. In settings it seems to imply that it is possible to do so, but I can't work out how it's done. My aim is to be able to drag the front dial (clockwise) in order to change either the A/S in programme shift or the A in aperture priority (drag to increase A number or go from P to Ps). I have tried all possible combinations of pressing buttons, spinning wheels, pressing wheels and spinning buttons until I am blue in the face, but all to no avail. "Can it be done", is all I ask; if so, HOW?

Re: Damned dial...

The Olympus cameras are quite extensive with its options but that Dial 1 & Dial 2 in Dial Direction in Menu *B are only talking about the two different directions of the dial for the function, Fno. Shutter upper (or exposure shift). It would default to the rear dial until you change Dial Function in Menu *B where you can change the functions from front to back dials (for each of P, A, S, M, Menu & Play Back). Do that first & then see if you need to change the direction.

Re: Damned dial...

Ross, you lost me just after "Dial 1 & Dial 2 in Dial Direction". I'm soooo glad I've only got my E-620 and I'm still fathoming out the menu on that

Re: Damned dial...

Thanks Ross. I'm fairly sure that I understood you (camera speak is still an enigma to me) and after only a few twiddles and presses I have managed to set it so that I can "drag" to increase the aperture in A mode, which is my default setting most of the time, so I'm extremely grateful for your help in achieving that. I'm considering emailing Olympus to see if it would be possible to add proper dial direction choice to any firmware update. Well perhaps not!?!?

That's OK. I started describing the E-M1 version (which has an extra option) until I checked that this was in the E-M5 section.
