Sensible car thread

Well: Look what was parked outside our barn today:

Alas: Not mine.

BTW. You may recall I was in search of a 4wd estate car. Something sensible like the 3L Jaguar X-type. Well I gave myself a long talking to and steered around the Jag, much as I see myself as a Jag owner.

No: I have found a nice sensible Subaru instead. I have laid plans to buy a nice second hand estate. Just right for the shopping. It's a Legacy 3.0 R Spec B.

Hardened Scooby fans will realise what this means: Quantity discount at the petrol station and care needed near speed cameras.

No good to me - I'm the same height as Jeremy Clarkson and he couldn't get into one on Top Gear!

A couple of years ago I was neck and neck with a Bugatti Veyron and he couldn't shake me off.

We were both doing 4 MPH on the M25!

I'm not surprised, it's pure class.

I had to sell it, and I believe t was melted down to make the above.......what a waste.

Re: Sensible car thread

Well.

Here's my new Jaguar:

Well, the nice man in the Subaru garage assured me it was a Jaguar

Yes, finally got my Subaru Legacy 3.0 R Spec.B estate. A sensible car. A flat 6 4WD 3 litre revs-to-7k type of car.

I am still trying to program the settings how I want them. It is just possible the Scooby is more complicated that the E-M5 menus..

:-)

Oh, and I added a page of all my cars to the photoblog going back to 1972... http://snaarman.blogspot.co.uk/p/cars.html

Re: Sensible car thread

You wouldn't want to see a list of my car history, in most cases the photo equipment in the vehicle was worth much more than the vehicle itself.

Interesting. What age is it? A Subaru is on my list of possibles at next car renewal in a year or so, but I need a car I can step into rather than down to, like my CRV.

Its a monster :-) Imagine an estate car mated with a Porsche 911 and the Starship Enterprise...

Scooby by snaar man, on Flickr

It's lower than a Ford Focus BTW, a real driver's car. This one is almost 250 Bhp, but be aware, some of the 4 cylinder turbo versions can be close to 300 Bhp. They are definitely not what they seem. :-)
