What is the 'mileage' of your E-M1?

Just out of curiosity what is the shutter count of your E-M1(s)? I hadn't checked mine for a long time, so I had a look today and it was less than I expected 16,613 activations. I believe the shutter is rated for 150,000 shots, so hopefully it will carry on functioning without any major problems for a few more years.

I suppose if you use sequential shooting a lot the count will escalate rapidly but I would be interested to hear how much of a hard time we give our cameras. It would also be good to know what, if any, problems you have had during that period.

Ron

Can you give the sequence for getting the count to show up please?

Ron despite having several goes at it I just can't get my EM1 to show me the shutter count. Can you share the method you used please.
Cheers

Re: What is the 'mileage' of your E-M1?

Camera OFF
Hold down MENU button and turn ON the camera
Release MENU button and press MENU again to get to Menus
Go to LCD Brightness Menu, that's in Spanner/Wrench Menu and third item down.
Press RIGHT to show screen adjusters
Press INFO and then press OK and on my E-PL1 this shows on screen....
OLYMPUS E-PL1
04 01 01 01
Press in sequence UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT/SHUTTER/UP and Page 1 info appears
Variously then press RIGHT for Page 2, DOWN for Page 3, LEFT for Page 4 and UP again to get Page 1

What we are looking for is the information on Page 2, on my E-PL1 it shows (in earlier days).....
R 002947 [total shot count]
S 000194 [shot count with flash]
C 000000
U 001493 [turn on count which is ultrasonic wave cleaner count]
V 000000
B 002396 [total shot count using in-body stabilisation (IBIS)]
L 000000
I am at about 100,000 and still going strong. I also use silent shutter a lot, and that saves wear and tear on the shutter. 150,000 is just a guess, and I have heard about E-M1s hitting 300,000 and still running.

Re: What is the 'mileage' of your E-M1?

Think DanC.Licks beat me to it.

I mostly use electronic shutter so not sure if its counts the activations. ( just checked and it does)

I am only at 3499 so far.

Re: What is the 'mileage' of your E-M1?

Hmm thanks Dan but I've done that exact sequence several times now and it doesn't go past the screen that shows the word Olympus and some numbers. After that it just freezes.

Re: What is the 'mileage' of your E-M1?

Phill,
Just double checked and the sequence works on my E-M1. I have found though that at times it will fail if the keys are not pressed fully or if I go too fast, especially on the up-down-left-right shutter (all the way) and up sequence. Maybe try taking the battery out and letting it sit for a minute and trying again.??

Re: What is the 'mileage' of your E-M1?

Thanks for posting the sequence Dan. That is the method which I used, although it didn't work the first time. I tried again, taking it slower and pressing the keys and buttons firmly and cleanly and it worked.

Incidentally, my camera is coming up to three years old and the only problem I have had is the rubber peeling off the thumb grip. I bought the replacement parts for 10 and fixed it myself. I hope I haven't talked up trouble now though.

Re: What is the 'mileage' of your E-M1?

OK I'll persevere.
Ron I'm in exactly the same situation as you 3 yrs and only the thumb grip pealed off a bit recently after a very hot holiday in Italy. I fixed mine with a drop of superglue and it's fine.
