London Remembered

Today as I was rummaging through the old shoebox looking for something else,
I stumbled upon these memories of Sandra's and mine from our 1990 London visit.

Unfortunately Sandra is no longer able to take long flights so I'm contemplating a solo trip to Ireland, early 2019

Twenty eight years ago, Oh how things have changed!

Re: London Remembered

Nice Mark. That typical Australian Hat

Can you remember your room at Holland Park, Is it similar to those ABNB? Was thinking of that on my next trip.

Re: London Remembered

Thanks Henry, yes I do remember our room at Holland Park (IMG's #3 red circle, #4) but am hopeless at anagrams, what is "ABNB"?

The hat of was very similar to the one I bought recently except that the London one was suede leather and the current one is lightweight, waterproof, packable oilskin most suitable for 40C temperatures that we are expecting today.

Some great memories there, Mark. I remember drinking 'arf 'n 'arf back in the day.

Great memories I'm sure. Young looking lad in these photos. I wonder who he is.

Quite a coincidence, I love the atmosphere of English pubs, Mark. Although not a complete teetotaller I do occasionally enjoy a congenial beer.

To me it seems like a long time ago but the memories are as vivid as yesterday's.

The older we get the more cherished our memories, John.

Re: London Remembered

Thanks Huw, during our 6 weeks UK visit in October 1990 can you believe, sunny blue skies daily, it rained not once.

I too wonder where you were and what you might have been doing then. :}

We had just returned from a holiday in the La Rochelle area of France, actually on the Île de Ré.
France was having a heat wave, particularly in that area as I remember and it was scorching. It was of course the summer that England had another nearly but not quite moment with Bobby Robson in charge.

Additional to the 6 weeks we spent in the UK we also spent two weeks in Germany and Austria when the weather was also fine although I would not describe it as a heatwave by our standards. I wasn't a football fan or rather a soccer fan at the time so I am unfamiliar with Bobby Robson. If the syntax sounds a bit odd it's because I am using voice text on my new Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, a sort of DIY course in public speaking.
