Affinity Photo Special Offer

Affinity Photo has 20% off its normal 50 price until the end of the year. I have been waiting for a price drop and downloaded it last night. Bye bye CS6!

Also, if you already own Affinity Photo, there are some special brushes available to download free. I got mine yesterday.

Re: Affinity Photo Special Offer

I downloaded Affinity a while ago, and I do like it a lot. The only thing I am finding is re-sizing does not keep the quality of the pic as did Adobe PS....if I post the full sized pic onto the Olympus FB page they remain the same quality as I took them (I don't have to re-size them) .....if someone can tell me how the quality can be retained on this forum and reducing them to the 512mb that the gallery requires then all will be well..

Re: Affinity Photo Special Offer

Is it simple enough for a Photoshop user to get into?

I downloaded them last night but I can't seem to follow the installation process as when I navigate to where the folder is, it doesn't appear.

If you are used to Photoshop then yes its a very simple transition.
The layout is very similar. The keyboard shortcuts are just about identical.
There are lots of very good tutorials on YouTube/Vimeo

Have you watched the tutorial video Document/Image Resizing? It explains in some depth how to do it. I discovered that changing Resampling from Bilinear to Bicubic helped quite a lot.

If you want to resize to say 1200px long side from your original file

Then I found that using File - Export
select type - JPG
select resampling - Lanczos3 - non separable
set quality at 45 keeps really good detail and gives a very small file size.
for use on here.

Resampling using either bilinear or bicubic results in too much loss of detail for me.

Re: Affinity Photo Special Offer

Thanks Ron, Dave. I had the book for Christmas and the same thing is mentioned there. I will try it.

Re: Affinity Photo Special Offer

Please Affinity users assist me on this. It's driving me bonkers. (am using Windows version)

This photo looks fine but when I downloaded the largest, there are BLUE all over the dark areas.

It shows up fine on the image but on download and open with faststone image viewer, that blue appears. What am I doing wrong?

Large full size here

Looks like this on my screen

Re: Affinity Photo Special Offer

Think you have Affinity Photo set to show clipped highlights, shadows and tones.

Make sure you are in the Develop Persona
Then look at the top right corner of your Menu Bar for the three icons deselect to remove as required.

Re: Affinity Photo Special Offer

Tries that but it still don't develop right.
Clicking on or off the 3 buttons don't show anything.

I tried opening a JPG.

Then without doing anything, I exported it as I could not save to JPG,
This is the crop. (On I am not being a pervert cropping the skirt )

The crop JPG was opened with faststone image viewer. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Affinity Photo Special Offer

Why cant you export to jpg? That is not normal.

The support people at Affinity are very helpful. I would contact them via their support forum which can be found under the Help drop down.

Re: Affinity Photo Special Offer

Is the problem with Faststone? I downloaded the bird image and opened in Windows Photo and the blue isn't there. Can you post the before and after crop files?
