Re: Autumn colours

Have been lurking here of late, but this event has sparked my interest.

I would be interested in the Epping Forest as a location as per Andy's suggestion, tho I recognise the ask for Ian of a 3rd event.

Re: Autumn colours

Yes I'm in for Westonbirt. Might also go for Epping depending on the day.
What happened to the northern meeting has it been fixed yet?

Maybe a week-end in Scotland. Might be tempted myself....

Or Yorkshire/Northumberland......

Northern meeting - needs to be sorted ASAP. I'll start a new thread.

Ian
That depends what you mean by 'Northern'?

Many southerners think Yorkshire or even Derbyshire is in the far north and worry that they'll fall off of the edge if they go any further.

Re: Autumn colours

So we're decided; Westonbirt Arboretum on the 26th.

I'd like to suggest the afternoon rather than morning.

One other thing, if the weather forecast is cloudy and rainy we may have to re-think. Autumn colours really needs some reasonable weather.

If there is enough interest for Saturday, I could stay over - please indicate your interest.

Thanks,

Ian

Re: Autumn colours

I should be okay for Friday afternoon as long as that pesky work thing doesn't get in the way. Saturday would be difficult as daughter #2 will be home from College for the weekend.

Re: Autumn colours

Hi Ian

I had previously said i planned to be there around 11 am and some people said the same

I don't mind having a meetup time later if people have further to travel, but I still plan to be there late morning in order to make best use of the time I am happy to PM a phone number for people wanting a contact - as it happens I have found my Oly hat so that should help people locate me

You are right that we need to keep an eye on the weather - at present it is forecast to be overcast that day. Not perfect, but not awful either

Regards
Andy

Re: Autumn colours

A contact number would be great Andy. Is there somewhere obvious that we can all meet up?

Just a thought. Once people are parked up you'll probably need to queue to pay to get in (entrance circled in red). Most visitors go off to the right from there to start their visit or wait for a guided tour to start.

Would the clump of trees to the left of the entrance (highlighted in blue) be a good place to meet up?

Re: Autumn colours

Met office already shows nicer than that. Full sun at 10 and patches of sun thereafter
