Anyone recommend a skin type case for an EM1 mk1?

My daughter wants a minimalist skin type case for her EM1 mk1 and I was wondering if anyone had tried any out. She's tried the Olympus version but it's too small with the 14-140 lens she uses.

Re: Anyone recommend a skin type case for an EM1 mk1?

Can’t say I’ve seen one, although I’ve not seen anything from Olympus and am actually assuming you mean something like I’ve seen available for Canikon, that is a tight silicon skin to cover the body leaving all controls accessible. Available in camp, black and red(!). I Googled it once for the Oly and came up with nothing at the time (couple of months ago)
I feel another Google coming on....

Re: Anyone recommend a skin type case for an EM1 mk1?

Had a quick Google and the make I was thinking of is EasyCover, as sold by Bristol Cameras. Covers for Sony too it seems and also a Panny. Yellow is an option too!

All I can find from Olympus is a see through white silicon case for a TG-4 or 5 that looks terrible! It’s translucent and looks awful at least making it out of bright red silicon would be true to the colour of a red TG.

Nothing else though so I’m assuming you’re after something different here Phill.

Thanks Tim they look interesting but no Oly ones. They are sort of what she wanted but she doesn't need it to have through button functionality just to be a wrap round case that is easily removable to shoot.

I've got 2 of those Optech neoprene pouches, one is a tight fit on my EM1 mk2 + 75-300, but forgotten how well/if other case fits with a 14-140. If it's of interest, I could check my Amazon purchase history [now done] and also how the 14-140 fits.

Yes please David it would be really great if you could check the fit. I assume you got the midsize case model 7401194. They look pretty good in the photos.

I have found these in my order history, but haven't used them much since aquiring bigger PRO lenses, but will hunt them down this evening. They were initially bought for my EM5 + the zooms mentioned above, and were a bit oversized, as they are tight on my EM1 Mk2, they may be a much better fit on the slightly smaller Mk1

N.B. Just noticed you state 14-140, which is a Pany lens, rather than the Oly 14 -150 I use.

I've bought so many of their neoprene cases, that it took me a while to work out which were the ones.

Yes, that's the one that 'tight' fits my Mk2 with an arca swiss plate underneath plus a 14-150 with inverted lens hood.. As the Mk1 is slighty smaller, it should be an even better fit. The strap fixings align with the case openings on my Mk2.

P.S. The case in the other Amazon link is another 'tight' fit with my Mk2, incl qr plate and that massive lens hood.

Both cases will scrunch up into a pocket.

Yes that first one is the one we were looking at. The panny lens is very similar in size to the olympus one so your test is brilliant thank you, you are a real star. Just ordered one. Might even try the longer one for my mk2 and 12-100 if I like it .

I’ve got the longer Optech one for my OM1 mk1 and 12-60. It fits fine and is really protective.

Just checked in a bit more detail and with the qr plate removed from the base it's only the press stud on the grip side that then requires pulling to close it. I believe the EM1 Mk1 has a smaller grip so probably be a perfect fit (+ the Pany zoom is slightly shorter?).The girth around my EM1 Mk2, around the nose of the 14-150 lens (Mk2), over the top, across the eye , underneath and back to the nose is 425mm.

I was at an event in the Lake District earlier this year, spending the day trying out the entire range of Olympus Pro lenses. I slipped my larger Optech pouch in my bag and I'm fairly certain that I checked it with the 12-100 fitted whilst using it and it was a reasonable fit. I'll check how it fits with my 75-300 to enable a comparison with a 12-100 if you are interested.

Re: Anyone recommend a skin type case for an EM1 mk1?

Cindy i suspect the 12-60 plus the adaptor is a similar size to the 12-100 alone, thanks.

That would be great David cheers.

From what I can make out, the Oly 75-300 and 12-100 are exactly the same length. With no qr plate on the base, the press studs require the stretchy neoprene to be pulled only approx. 10mm to close the case.

The front of the case accepts the 90mm dia reversed lens hood for the 75-300, even pushed right into the furthest end of the case, so the 77.5mm dia. 12-100 should fit (or does fit, because I've tried it), but I didn't get a chance to check it with it's petal lens hood fitted in reverse.
