Portrait distortion

This might be better in another section - mods please move if you agree.

I usually use my E1 in landscape "postion" but last week I took some photos at a wedding in portrait.

I've downloaded them onto the computer using Olympus Master
The portrait ones are obviously on their side (on the screen) and look fine but when I use the rotate tool the proportions are distorted. I've not noticed this with photos from my E520.

I'm sure you will realise I've not much experience with post processing and am guessing there is an obvious & easy answer
E1, E520, ED14-42, ED 40-150, 70-300, Various legacy including 50mm f2 macro.
