Superb Alf. I always like your work. Always of very high technical quality and with a knack of capturing the best light and locations. Fantastic stuff!

Would you be up for hosting a small outing with a group at some point? I'd love to get some insight into the lakes and I'm sure you'd make a great guide!

My shift pattern and weather forecasts help with timing and opportunity.

I would be up for hosting a small group. Weekdays are better for me but I can manage some weekends. I am not a fan of shooting in the lakes in summer myself but it can be done. I am not often found round Windermere or Ambleside either btw and people from Manchester can get to those areas faster than me even though I live in the county.

If you want light its either that or going out in weather people do not like.

Hi Alf - I'll open another thread to judge interest. I agree that doing something before the summer would be the most sensible. 3am starts to catch the sunrise don't really appeal!

Re: A mix of this years Landsacpes

Alf, this is a BEAUTIFUL set of photos and inspirational for anyone considering Landscape photography. Thank you for sharing. How much work goes into setting up each shot? and how much time does it takes to edit the final one for presentation please. On another forum, one of the members wrote how it only took him 2 minutes for the shot and another 2 minutes for the post edit. This is something I have never been able to achieve.

Excellent work Alf. They make me want to hop on an aeroplane and fly over there to see it myself.

Glad you like them.

This is not that straight forward to answer but here goes. As for setting up that is very variable for me. I use a tripod a lot but just love to shoot handheld and move around seraching for an angle. I will shoot with a camera on the tripod and one in hand at the same time. Some of my favourite shots have been taken handheld moving around (often quickly especially if I am alone) working away intuitively.

As for processing I use Lightroom and Photoshop CC sometimes images are just processed in LR taking under a minute sometimes it is a back and forth process over multiple session at the computer even weeks to get the image how I want.

If you take a lot of time of the capture you can reduce PP time I use ND grads a lot as this give sme better RAW files to work from making PP quicker. People will tell you ND are not necessary but I do not agree.
