Question Sharpness "soft" in exif with sigma 105 macro on e-510. Why?

I've been using a sigma 105 macro on my e-510 for some months now - finding it very difficult to get good sharp images. Even bought some new specs (not from spec savers!) to see if that helped. Have just noticed on the exif files that whenever 105 used I get a new entry on the end of the exifs saying "Sharpness - soft".
Can anyone explain this - I'm a bit of a novice.
Is there something to do with the camera set up I need to change?

this means that you have the camera setting for sharpness at a negative figure, or at 0 shooting in Natural

it will apply to all lenses

it's how I shoot with my 510 because the camera settings are pretty agressive on sharpenning!
